Lawrences’ Galatea Trunk Show was a lot of fun.  We had wine, food, music and lots of gorgeous jewelry to spend the evening with.  When the Galatea Diamond in a Pearl representative began setting up the cases with Galatea’s other lines, like the DaVinChi line it was amazing.  We learned so much about Chi Galatea’s patented jewelry lines it was impressive.  The next case he set up was the Marco Polo Murano Glass Bead Jewelry.  This is an exquisite, colorful and affordable line of earrings, bracelets and necklaces that all have matching sets with more than one option.   The necklaces are available as cable, 18″, 24″ & 36″ necklaces.  The names are just as interesting: Aurora (black & white) Lights of Venice (gold, green, yellow & purple) , The Scarlet Leopard (red & black) & Mona Lisa (multi-colored)  Last but not least is the “I Love Chocolate” line that the 5th picture gives you a small glimpes of. The Chocolate Drop Earrings are not to be called Hershey’s Kisses for patent reasons, but they are adorable anyway.

This 3rd Friday Artwalk LAWRENCES will be having a Salesman’s Trunk Show with GALATEA JEWELRY    As usual we will have Caprice Wine tasting and a wonderful pianist to entertain you while you get swept away with the facinating carved pearl designs Galatea Chi Huyn has designed.  GALATEA will feature special close out sales in addition to other line items.

PEARLS WITHOUT BOUNDARIES

Long ago, signs were hung in towns and villages warning the people from having pearls in their possessions.  Pearls, it was decreed, were the most precious gem of all and could only be owned by royalty.  Today, anyone can own pearls,  But they still make us feel like royalty.  I remember the first time I carved a pearl, I shared my work with some pearl dealers who sadly advised me that the value of the pearl is always based upon how smooth it is.  They warned me against any further carving.  Of course, I went ahead and carved them anyway.

I’m an artist.  When I look at pearls, I ask myself how a plain canvas can hold more value than one that is painted.  When I see a pearl before me, I think of it as a canvas.  Sculpting one is not a manufacturing process–it is creating a  work of art.  Besides, I am not sure I know what value means to me.  I just want to create something htat is beautiful and unique.

It has been more than 10 years since I began to carve pearls.  I am a bit older now and as I sit in my garden, I reflect and try to make sense os what I’m really trying to do.  I want to be clear and completely honest with myself and find the origin, this spark of the creative fire.  I carve pearls to make them beautiful but it is more than that.  It;s an acat of creativity an expression of my hope to be free of constraints, to see beyond the obvious and create something unique.  Inside of every one of us is the desire to be frree to express ourselves.  I carved these pearls for every woman who declares, “I am my own queen.”  I hope Galatea’s Queen Beads are worn with the spirit of individuality in which they were created.  CHI GALATEA HUYNH
